College Internships Initiatives
Connecting Businesses and Emerging Professionals
Internships are a key initiative to support business and talent growth in the region. GCP is a leader of the Cleveland Talent Alliance (CTA), a consortium of nonprofit, private and public sector organizations focused on attracting and retaining talent in the region.
We partner with employers and universities to offer internship experiences, career fairs and social events that help college students forge professional and personal connections to Cleveland – increasing the likelihood they’ll live and work in the region upon graduation.

Summer in The Land
The Summer in The Land event series invites all regional college interns to venture out of their workspaces and explore locations that make Cleveland a Great Region on a Great Lake for young professionals. During the summer of 2023, more than 1,000 interns from over 300 companies attended Summer in The Land social gatherings hosted by GCP and the Cleveland Talent Alliance partners.
These free events create opportunities for interns to connect with each other and to the region. The 2024 Summer in The Land series kicks off on Tuesday, June 4, with a party at the newly renovated Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Guardians.

STEM Internships
Greater Cleveland Partnership, Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University partner on a STEM internships initiative focused on connecting STEM talent at area colleges to regional employers. Businesses can work with GCP to leverage our strong university connections to attract students in your existing internship program or to launch a new internships initiative.

Innovative Talent Solutions
GCP can match employers with students who have the background, skills and availability that suit your business goals and needs including:
- Full-Time Internships - These 2–3-month experiences (usually during the summer) connect students to companies needing support with day-to-day operations or who are interested in nurturing their collegiate talent pipeline.
- Part-Time Internships - Businesses may be interested in hosting an intern 10-15 hours per week during the academic year to get greater continuity and commitment that augments staff and gets an extended look at future hires.
- Micro Internships - During these short-term placements (fully paid for by GCP), college interns complete a single high-impact project or assignment.
- CO-OP Employment - These full-time, rotational positions allow students to gain experience by blending classroom learning with real-world experience.
