The energy at the 2025 Greater Cleveland Partnership Sustainability Summit was electric as more than 500 registrants – industry leaders and innovators - came together to explore cutting-edge sustainable business practices, uncover new opportunities for growth and connect with like-minded professionals shaping the future.

“It’s all about innovation. Adoption is driven by markets,” began GCP President and CEO Baiju Shah in his opening remarks, sharing an example of Lubrizol and Park Place Technologies innovating together on a solution to reduce data center energy use.

Keynote speaker Mary Wenzel set the tone with an inspiring address on the intersection of corporate responsibility and environmental action, highlighting how sustainability is not just a necessity but a strategic advantage for businesses.

The Keynote Panel on Emission Reduction Strategies brought together a powerhouse group of public sector leaders, including Jenita McGowan (Cuyahoga County), Sarah O’Keeffe (City of Cleveland), Joy Mulinex (Ohio Lake Erie Commission), and Carol Kauffman (Ohio Environmental Council).

They provided a deep dive into the role of government in corporate and environmental sustainability, discussing policy initiatives, regional climate challenges, and strategies for emission reductions. Their expertise and commitment to a cleaner, greener future for Northeast Ohio sparked dynamic conversations and inspired businesses to engage in meaningful climate action.

Breakout sessions throughout the day dove into sustainable sourcing, cleantech innovation, climate risks, and public investments in clean infrastructure—equipping businesses with the tools to drive real, measurable impact.

The day wrapped up with an insightful discussion between Adam Graves, President of Nestlé’s Pizza & Snacking Division, and Baiju Shah, President and CEO of Greater Cleveland Partnership. Their conversation explored unique regional sustainability opportunities and the role of corporations in shaping a greener future, underscoring how businesses can lead the charge in environmental responsibility while fueling economic growth.

Graves also spoke to harnessing the power of employees, who are eager to make a difference, and the importance of sustainability for next-generation talent attraction.

Networking buzzed throughout the day, culminating in a lively reception where connections could turn into collaborations.

It’s clear: sustainability in Greater Cleveland is more than just a buzzword—it’s a movement.
