University Hospitals' mission: To Heal. To Teach. To Discover.

Founded as charity hospital to serve the sick and disabled in the wake of the Civil War, University Hospitals of Cleveland has spent more than 150 years making the community, and nation, healthier. A renowned teaching and research institution, notable work done at the facility has led to treatment for high blood pressure; the first operation for coronary artery disease; revolutionary CPR techniques; the first comprehensive treatment for cystic fibrosis; minimally invasive heart surgery; the use of computed tomography in surgery; innovative treatment that has improved the quality of life for paralyzed people; and so much more.
