Cleveland-area leaders asking Ohio lawmakers for money for Irishtown Bend park, walkway connecting downtown to lakefront

March 14, 2022 — Cleveland-area leaders are asking the Ohio General Assembly to help pay for 10 construction projects, including a walkway connecting downtown’s grand mall to Lake Erie and an Irishtown Bend project to transform 24 acres of unusable brownfield land into a park connecting Ohio City to the Cuyahoga River.

These two projects were among 10 requests the city, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and the Greater Cleveland Partnership, a business group, submitted together in a letter sent Thursday to state lawmakers and Gov. Mike DeWine’s administration.
